    Story Behind the Song
I always like songs that tell the story where love transcends the boundaries between Heaven and Earth. Wanted to write one that tells a sad story in a happy way.

    Lyrics
Big train rollin’, here she comes again, smoke just a pouring’ out

the stack, comin’ around the bend,

The rumble’s gettin’ louder, I can see the conductor’s hand, pullin’

down the whistle, I can hear the welcome band.

Daddy, can we ride the train for just a little while,

So we can see the rivers and the mountains way up high,

The man is waving to us now, he’s saying, “all aboard”,

Come on Dad, gotta catch the train, right through the closin’ the door.
    (Instrumental like verse)

Look out at the world, ever seen such a thing, deer, they’re a

runnin’ to get out of the summer rain,

Snow up on the mountain, out across the land, come on Dad, don’t

be sad, time’s just a grain of sand.

Daddy soon we’ll ride the train together all the time,

Then we can see the rivers and the mountains way up high,

The man is waving to me now, you I’m not afraid,

I’ll see you in a little while, till then don’t lose your way,

Tell Mommy that I love her and I know you’ll find your way.
