Story Behind the Song
Written about a cafe scene in Madrid, Spain. The inspiration came from reading the poetry of Federico Garcia Lorca. It was performed in Madrid in various venues and recorded at Aztech Studios in Tucson, Arizona. The song relates the experience in the cafe where the noise level is so loud, you can't even hear yourself think with people talking and waiters frenetically serving, and all the city sounds.
Lyrics
As the dirt falls on the floor the waiter stacks the plates and cups and forks and spoons for the early croud
And in the air it smells like smog and bread and grease and coffee and the clock on the wall has never worked, and it's so loud, so loud, for crying out loud.
Hail the cab that's occupied, the workers eat their apple pies while the porter reads the paper, as the trains fly by.
And the busses never seem to stop and the Metro, it runs by the clock, and meanwhile, I have to close my eyes, because it is so loud, so loud, for crying out loud. Why do we have to be so loud.
And as the dirt falls on the floor, the waiter stacks the plates and cups and forks and spoons for the early crowd.
