A song I wrote - my lamenting about the condition of today's music business - I obviously miss the good old days and the folks who used to go out to their favorite country bar or dance hall and listen and dance to live music.
CD: The Calm After The Storm   Label: Fidlin Records
Credits: Written, produced, arranged, and recorded by Lee Jones. All instruments played by Lee Jones.

    Story Behind the Song
I've watched the music business as we knew it deteriorate to what it is nowk - this song is just me writing about the good old days.

    Lyrics
The good times have come and gone away, guess I’ll lay this old

    guitar down today,

I wish that I could lay this music down, been a while since folks been

    comin’ round.

Twenty years ago the music rang, of life and love and sometimes

    sang of pain,

The old jukebox in the corner, ain’t got no friends, he’ll cry tonight

    from a broken heart again.

The stages are all empty, the dance floors cold and dark,

A sadness seems to hang in what was once the rowdy bars,

And to think of all the guitars that no longer get to play,

Well my friend, I think the music died today. (Inst. like chorus).

Think we’ll head out for a drink before I lay my head to rest, at

the place where we spent years I love the best,

I wonder where are the folks who’ve gone away, well I hope

those times will cross their minds today.

Well, friend, now it’s time to say good-bye, this old guitar and me

we thank you for the ride,

Hope the folks they don’t forget the years we spent together, you

know our thoughts will be with you tonight.

The stages are all empty, the dance floors cold and dark,

A sadness seems to hang in what was once the rowdy bars,

And to think of all the guitars that no longer get to play,

Well friend, I think the music died today,

Well friend, I think the music died today.
