	Maple Leaf Rag, published in 1899, set Joplin on the road to fame. This CD is dedicated to Joplin in the centenary of his first great success. The fame and fortune that followed this hit meant that Joplin could dedicate his life to composing “classical rags”: rags with the intent of being played in the concert hall alongside Beethoven and Chopin.
