Story Behind the Song
This song was written almost 4 years ago. At that time I was trying to write songs that had incorporated some sort of a blues flavor. The main rhythm/groove was the beginning of the creation of the song, and then the lyrics followed shortly afterwords. Once this groove was set, it was apparent that it was about a train moving along the tracks. I think the slide guitar that my guitarist has added totally completes it and gives it that blues sound that I had always wanted, along with the bass parts and drums, that flow right along with the rhythm of the guitar.
Midnight Tracks symbolizes an "escape" vehicle, jumping on that train and never coming back. I love the image of an empty station at night and the lonely sounds of a train whistle blowing as it pulls up on the tracks. This is what I had hoped to capture with this song. - Gina
Lyrics
Steam train is running
Echoes through the downtown streets
Pure anticipation
About where I want to be
Roll on down
Gonna ride
On those midnight tracks
Gonna ride
On those midnight tracks
Well I've been waiting so long
To be on that golden path
Yes, I've been waiting so long
And I won't be coming back
Cause I'll be
Rolling down, on the midnight track
Pushing and pulling to get on my way
Tripping and falling
I get up again
Kneeling and praying
I make this midnight train
Strong determination
Is going to put me on this
Moving liberation
Won't you roll me
Won't you roll me
Roll me, roll me, roll me
On down
On those midnight tracks
Said I'm gonna ride
On those midnight tracks
Oh Lord above me
Gonna deliver me
On those midnight tracks
