Story Behind the Song
This song took the longest to come together as far as becoming a song. I've been noodling with the main guitar melody since I finished 'Faith', my last AOR CD. I had the melody and the first verse and I couldn't seem to find a way to get further. This went on until the later end of finishing this CD. Late one night I was determined to write something more and it just flooded into my head all at once. It's always a good thing when it happens like that.
'Ce la vie' is about just that, life in general. Viewed through one person's eyes, watching others stuggle in vain. It's an old saying and has been written in verse long before my time, yet the idea still rings true today as it did then. That's life, nothing is perfect or exactly as we would like it to be and there's little we can do.
The other message here is that the only thing that you can really change is yourself and how you deal with the everyday. Making one change in your life is like moving a line sightly up or down on a line graph, the whole results are forever altered for good or bad. You have to take that chance sometimes, cause if you don't you know what will happen? Nothing.
Take this message to heart and maybe life will look a little brighter for you. At least that's my hope.
Lyrics
Ce La Vie
Listen to cars going by, I often think
What’s the rush when half the fun’s the journey
If you’d just slow down
Take a look around, you’d see
Your perceptions indeed, define reality
The empty glass is full, but you must believe
What was lost can be found
Don’t let life get you down, Ce La Vie
Everything that’s wrong will change eventually
If you’re too scared to fall
Then you’re not prepared to dream
You are your own worst enemy
Listen to the cars passing by, I often think
What’s the rush, half the fun’s the journey
What was lost can be found
Don’t let life get you down,
Ce La Vie, Ce La Vie
