Story Behind the Song
This songs was put together one afternoon when John Vargas played the verse riff to Mikey de Lara in their apartment sophmore year of college. After tinkering with the rythym, Mikey came up with the music for the chorus, and shortly there after, the lyrics and the melody. The lyrics describe the reflections in the life of a young man who realizes that the mistakes and regrets he has and has made are never going to stop him from moving on with his life in a positive way. When Mikey moved to LA, the first person to buy the Joe's Myth CD was a clean, polite young man who had the same name as Mikey's cousin. The next day, he left a message on Mikey's voicemail mentioning, "This is Christian Slater. I just wanted to tell you that this song, "A Saturday," is stuck in my head... Which is a good thing. So, keep it up."
Lyrics
Take me out into the light
Beyond a flash in blinding sight
And well, if I could hide away
"I wouldn't tell you," you might say
But I'm not there
I'm here with you
Don't tell me things that I want for you
I took a chance
And I was wrong
But I won't stop, I'm going on
Trying isn't all it seems
Just let it go, it comes, you see
And find out what might work today
You never knew what she might say
CHORUS
I'm glad I thought I was alive
It's not too often, I might sigh
So take these moments, far and few
I see your eyes, I know you knew
CHORUS
