Story Behind the Song
My friend had a girlfriend who left him and just left a letter. I thought about that when I wrote this song. I can relate to it in a way. It took 5 takes to record in my brothers room. The words were written in 2 days back in Dec of 2001. The music was written in a few hours in January of 2002. My voice doesn't sound good over the mike and when I record a better copy of the song, I hope to fix that.
Lyrics
I didn't want to leave you,
I didn't have a choice.
I wanted to write,
one last letter to you.
The letter didn't say much,
it said I'm leaving.
I'm leaving you,
and I really don't want to.
I'm afraid to leave,
I want to stay here.
Talk to you for hours,
to see you smile again.
I wanted to thank you,
for giving me something special.
No one else would do what you did,
you gave me your heart.
It was for me to hold,
I'll never let go.
I'm leaving you,
and I really don't want to.
I'm afraid to leave,
I want to stay here.
Talk to you for hours,
to see you smile again.
I'm heading out the door,
for the last time.
This is the final time,
I'll see you before I'm gone.
I'll never forget the way,
you cared for me everyday.
I'm leaving you,
and I really don't want to.
I'm afraid to leave,
I want to stay here.
Talk to you for hours,
to see you smile again.
I left you a letter,
I left all the great things,
that I had in my life.
I'm leaving,
and I don't want to.
I'm leaving you,
and I really don't want to.
I'm afraid to leave,
I want to stay here.
Talk to you for hours,
to see you smile again.
