	Story Behind the Song I started writing this song in 1993 while living on a friends couch in College Station Texas. Kurt Cobain had just blown his brains out and I was in total disbelief that anyone with so much talent and so much more to offer would want to kill themselves. As time went by, I fell in to my own bouts of depression and despair and began to understand. It literally scared me alive when I thought how much easy it would be to just die. It hurt so much that I shelved the song. I picked it up again a few years later after my father lost his fight with cancer and I learned that one of my peers had hung himself over a girl. Once again, I was overcome with disbelief and anger. After all, my dad fought hard to stay alive and was not given a choice.
