Story Behind the Song
This song was written very quickly when I was in love [*sigh*]. It has a really bittersweet tone to it though. Maybe I knew subconsciously that the girl I played it for would dump me hours later. It's a song about being caught up in a feeling. I'm well over that girl by now, but playing this song still sometimes brings a tear to my eyes. Recorded at Brunsen Brothers Studios, Provo, UT. This was the only take, I believe.
Lyrics
Soaking in starlight, steeped in that moonlight, like moonshine to your mind,
Like something on the brain, your sweet refrain's got me under it's spell and under the swell,
And now I'm sinking in the waves. I'm captured by your gaze, and that could pull me down,
Yeah, any poor fool would drown.
And the words from your lips are just like waves. I founder when you say what you say.
Your lips could pull me down. Yeah any poor fool would drown.
