Story Behind the Song
What prompted me to write this song was seeing a person I once knew from my high school panhandling on Peel street in Montreal. I consider myself lucky to have the capability to write lyrics and tell my stories, and to have a friend like Chris to put them to music.
Lyrics
Can you spare a little change
I'm hungry and I'm cold
Sitting here all day, no place else to go
I've got no shoes, nothing to lose
somtimes don't know my name
I am alive I feel my feet as they freeze..
Can anyone please, rescue me
take me away, where the sun shines all day
I am unique, I'm not a freak
people point call me insane
I'm destitute, no education, no generation
that I come from, I'm not to blame and
I have no shame, and all I ask of you.
Can you spare a little change
I promise I won't drink
can't you that I, don't care what people think
don't turn you head, pretend I'm dead
cause I won't go away, life is so cheap
I cannot sleep on the street
Can anyone please, rescue me
take me away, where the sun shines all day
I am unique, I'm not a freak
people point call me insane
I'm destitute, no education, no generation
that I come from, I'm not to blame and
I have no shame, and all I ask of you.
Can you spare a little change
I'm hungry and I'm cold.
