A somewhat Spanish sounding song. Fast moving and simple. The chord progression is quite fun to play. Still a first time recording, no second chances. |

Story Behind the Song
I was supposed to go out with a girl on New Years Eve one night, and when I went to pick her up, she had another guy at her house, and tried to pretend like we had never made plans, even though we had the day before. I was quite pissed as you can imagine, and I drove to Pizza Hut, got a pizza right before they closed, and went home. I wrote this song right after the ball dropped Dec 31, 1998, and to this day, every person that hears this wants to kill themselves because it's so depressing.
Lyrics
Verse 1:
Here I sit it's New Years Eve
Sitting alone in my canvas jeans
glass of wine, pizza in hand
being alone is what I don't understand
can't find a date, can't find some fun
the only thing worse than too much is one
loneliness creeps in with the new year
for some reason I have no reason to cheer
Refrain:
Lonely on a New Years Eve
Oh why, aren't you here with me
No one to kiss no one to hug
I can't believe, I'm alone on New Years Eve
Verse 2:
The parties have all, just begun
the people are drunk and having fun
I thought I'd found that person to be with
but now I know it was all
some sick demented dream
ringing the new year with hats and champagne
the only thing that I am feeling is pain
dancing around there's no one alone
except me for me cause I'm sitting
I'm sitting here at home
