    Lyrics
I finished my product and I sealed it
packaged it for the world to see if they would feel it
it was returned unopened and unappreciated
layed in my closet unheard and uneleviated
one whole year it sat I doubted my ability
my offering to the world owned a lack of popularity
    then you came about
it had been many months and my pen was in doubt
and one morning, I believe our first morning
you tip-toed out of bed and whispered across the flooring
on your way out we kissed
you saw the chair where I had left you a little gift
and off you went listening to my existance
I wondered what you thought of how I recorded a sentence
that day you let me know I was not in vain
said things and I knew that you heard what I was saying
and for the first time I was an artist
a writer, a poet, my words had gone the farthest
they had gone, beyond a face and on
to a conscious they're inspected replayed and respected
your ears were the match I dreamed for my words
and you were not satisfied, more lines you encouraged
    me to write, express insight
and before long my pen was right
where it belonged, writing words for words
expression for its own sake with faith in what's heard
I write tomorrow with a pen you gave me yesterday
and see a little more from that path that you paved
now you said the world waits for me
and if they'll listen we'll just have to wait and see
but now I don't worry if I sing alone
cause an audience of one can still hear a poem
