Story Behind the Song
One day while sleeping in the open air, along a gentle flowing stream, near Castle Rock, our campsite was invaded by large fur-bearing animals. Our tent stayed in tact, but Coop was nearly crushed by one. Giant hoof prints and large land mines were found all around our camp. Coop thought that these animals must go in a predetermined path, no matter what was in their way. I said “we gotta reduce the herd with a gun, a club, an arrow, a hatchet, because that is our human nature.
Lyrics
the herd
One is chasing some tail in the woods. another is chasing another buck to hit. the does are offering anything they could, except for the one that didn't give a shit.
hatchet!
the herd starts to gather, tearing up the fields, crossing all the roads, slamming into cars, slamming or your brakes, crashing through your windshield, the herd has become too strong, it's taking over the world.
laser!
one has his head, hanging on my wall, another is lying dead by the road, and I'm wondering if I'm breaking laws, if I use my car to crush all their bones.
tank!
the herd is a small part of this world, like others before it we'll deplete the herd, it will too, soon be extinct, because that is our human nature.
bomb!
