Story Behind the Song
A man witnesses another man who kills his wife and then takes his own life. The man apathetically steals their wedding ring for money. He later regrets living also and wishes to be killed. This tragic story is about the moral decay of America in the '90's.
Lyrics
Now a life has been lost, and a love has been found,
But nobody cared to search around,
For the answers of what happened in Sante Fe.
When the shot was fired, it started the story,
He realized the death of his Glory,
And he watched the hearse take her away.
When he cuts his wrist, he sees the crimson flow,
And he dies there all alone,
But he doesn't hear any angels sing.
He's disappeared, by the break of dawn,
But time still forged on and on,
And all I did was steal his wedding ring.
And as the sun went down, the city got lonely,
It had killed but one only,
In this dying town called Sante Fe.
If your ever driving by, and see my shack,
Please end my endless attack,
Take my gun, take my gun, take and gun and shoot me down.
This is the way we live in America; Sante Fe Man.
This is the way we live in America; American love.
