    Story Behind the Song
Once my life was totally controlled my musical self. I breathed music and I played music. I wrote music and I lived music. When I met Jesus, I found that He was more than worthy of every song. He and His Word gave more things to write about and play about than I could do in a lifetime. And, if He ever wanted to take my songs away, that was fine, because his Word was more beautiful, and worthy to stand alone.

Recently, I wrote a song from Revelation 22 for a memorial service. I struggled a little with melody, rhyme, meter, etc....and when I actually did the song, the musical aspect of it was pretty vanilla. The text in itself was captivating. I could have done a rap to it, or read it as poetry, and I think it may have been able to have the same effect. I find that some of my most beautiful melodies, when connected to words that have no vital meaning in Godıs eyes, do not carry weight or longevity. They refuse to bless. But that day, two men cried because the song was so beautiful. And I know why. The text was Godıs truth, and in that is the power to move a manıs heart.

Each rebel soul will face whatever music it chooses. I pray that Godıs Word is in that music so that the rebel will face now what we know in truth what he will face then.

    Lyrics
Praise from once was an empty vacuum.
A bottomless pit. A lonely heart.
Praise and laud and honor abound.
Light rays tearing this rebel soul apart.

Love and meaning. Love and design.
    Sacrifice and constant care.
(Got to be there) to drink the fellowship
    so sweet for those
    Whoever would want to share.

    In a world of selfishness
In a world of pride and greed.
I look to Him who gives and gives and gives
    To meet my every need.

    Chorus:
    Tearing this rebel soul apart.
Breaking it down and melting it away.
    Tearing this rebel soul apart.
And changing the things I do and
    The words I say.

Back I go to the memory of hallways
Of secrets that seem to good to tell.
    Stolen kisses and morning headaches.
Deeds of a dude that was on his way to hell.

In a world of "the quest for power".
In a world of "Iım number one".
I look to the God who bends my knees.
As I grow in the Grace of His precious Son.

    Chorus
