Story Behind the Song
...by Irish poet Thomas Moore(1779-1852).
(introductory poem is from "The two Towers" by JRR Tolkien - a lay of Rohan, recited by Aragorn, read here by Gareth)
Put to original music by Melody Benbow in 1997 in expectation of performance as part of "A Song for Ireland" these words and this new tune speak volumes to a people who have lost their cultural way or are losing touch with their own heroic, magical, mythical history. Enjoy another of Melody's beautiful tunes as we enjoy the fabulous arrangement for strings recorded herein, initiated by the bowed bass of Mr. Glen Manders, and then lovingly expanded by the efforts and talents of our own Jaime Rokeby-Thomas. Thank you Jaime and Melody, and Tom Moore of course.
