    Lyrics
I'll be the first to admit I never gave her time
just a girl of my friends who came over time to time
and I won't say she gathered my attention
until I heard what hung among her wall's decorations
the first time I met her I could see she had it rough
her health had taken tolls, she was overlooked and under-loved
drank what seemed to be half her weight
had to swallow pills just to keep a steady heart rate
I was amazed that she didn't die the night
I heard she convulsed after drinking a few pints
but it surely didn't stop her and nobody else did
regarded as secondary to the primal kids
I knew she had some conscious but didn't seem to follow it
had her limitations but struggled to obide in 'em
saying staying in control sitting laps and taking shots
laughing to be laughed at just happy to make the plot

so she heard I had an album and she asked me for a copy
and I charged her twice as much cause I didn't feel she knew me
I can't remember if she said she liked it
I thought she didn't have the vision of knowing how to eye it
or how to hear it so I never asked
probably a little scared that she's say it's whack
and I forgot as the time passed
I rarely saw her if I did I never asked
what her mind did while it struggled on the inside
say I hope my friends never made her cry
I pray to all that I never caused her ache
cause one day I heard the news she touched the bottom of the lake

it must have been a lonely night for her
took the company of two who could probably hardly care
I'm guessing drunk or high and starving for attention
two boys the only ones who even noticed her intentions
so they sped through the night on the low hung bridge
and hit a skid to the edge and the car flipped its lid
all sunk to the bottom only two would breathe more
never floated so she left us on the the lake floor
it was sad to hear but I paid it little mind
I didn't want to be the kind to only care when she died
dismissed the few who were suddenly her closest friends
told myself we make decisions up until the end
and I was just fine until I heard the news
that my album cover hung on the wall of her room
she cared and I just watched her pass
I'm so sorry that I never asked
