Industry Review of CIRCLE OF FRIENDS Category IRB Review Score Music: The track competently delivers most of the expected stuff of Euro-Pop-Dance but some of the main melody is not quite as infectious and instantly hookey as the best examples of the genre. score 6 Lyrics: Saying something more than the average dance-pop song with some very strong lines. There were a number of instances where I felt the rhyme was a little forced, taking priority over content. But overall pretty well done given the constraints of the genre. score 7 Arrangement & Production: A clever arrangement / production with all the usual tricks. The production felt a little heavy handed at times tacking the spotlight away from the tune and the groove more than necessary but this could also be a mix issue or an effort to keep the energy level up at times when the vocal / melody didn't quite deliver... score 6 Lead Vocal: I couldn't help feeling that the music and beat are carrying the track more than the vocal performance. There are some pitch issues but more importantly the energy and confidence level isn't quite enough to elevate the tune to any great level. score 5 Musicianship: All the parts work well together and the bass line in particular keeps the track moving as a dance song should. A good understanding of the genre is evident. score 8 Originality: Not high in originality but the is a slight hint of quasi-cabaret melodrama in the vocal that is a little different to most dance music. score 6 Marketability: The main melody did not have a strong enough hook to stick easily in my head after a couple of listens and this puts a question mark on the marketability for me. score 5 General Comments: I think the main weakness of this track is parts of the main melody. It might be worth a bit of a rethink because it's a pretty good track otherwise... Average Score 6.143
