Turn Up the Radio is an uptempo keyboard, drum, and vocal song with lush Celtic sounding harmonies. The theme is pretty light and abstract, it is about subliminal messages on TV. Radio sounds like when Enya does rock or the Cranberries do pop.

    Story Behind the Song
    Turn Up the Radio factoids:
    Queenie says:
"I dream in music all the time, actually many of my tunes came out of dreams, and this one is half from a dream. The harmonies came from the bathtub. I hate showers, it is too much like being rained on."
This song used to be called "Turn Off the Radio" but it was changed because it was too much of a downer! (The song "Lost" is already very depressing!)

    Lyrics
    TURN UP THE RADIO (3:56)
    Turn up the radio,
    what you listen to
    is not all you hear
    Turn up the radio,
    subliminal patterns in your ear
    You're working hard all day
you hear it in the background noise
If you're going to slip away
just do it while you have a choice
    Turn up the radio,
    this is the offer
    you've been waiting for
    Turn up the radio,
you don't have to listen anymore
Buy a house, buy a car,
buy the address of a famous star
Do you hear it, it's so clear, clear now
    Find yourself, find someone,
find your fortune on the telephone
Get a bank, get a job,
get some exercise or you'll be a blob
Buy the book, buy the farm,
buy everything on your credit card
    Bridge
Do you hear? Do you hear?
    You're accustomed to music,
    news, and traffic jams
    The man behind the curtain,
do you think he's really there?
Save a tree, save some dough,
save a life, save your soul
Eat your fries, eat your fear,
end of the world is drawing near
Get a break, get some cash,
get it fast this deal won't last
Take a number, take a cruise,
take a big bite out of your blues
Turn up the radio, you're covered
    if you look convinced enough
Turn up the radio, keep track of
    every song you're thinking of
Buy a fence, buy a yard,
buy a pound it will go real far
Check your oil, check your hair,
    check out the people
    as they stop and stare
    Do you hear it now,
    in the background, it's clear
    Do you hear it now,
do you hear it now, it's clear
