Story Behind the Song
This song tells the story of my youngest daughter's early music antics. She really did used to dance around in circles while listening to my music, wearing sunglassed and singing, "I'm a cool dude, yeah, yeah." In all likelyhood, it's the only rock song where you'll hear the word "potty" used in appropriate context. This song came together fairly quickly (a couple of weeks), because it was inspired by a living model. The sequenced instrument tracks are supplemented by live rhythm guitar and Kim Mitchell-style octave vocals.
Lyrics
I’ve got a girl, her name is Emily
She’s only two, soon she’s gonna be three
She likes to listen to her daddy’s rock an’ roll
Over and over, it nevers gets old
With her sunglasses on, there’s a tale to be told
CHORUS
She’s a cool dood
Really cool dood (oh yeah)
She’s a cool dood
So cool dood
Jumpin’ all around, the music moves her body
Dancin’ like she does when she’s gotta go potty
Swingin’ her arms, turnin’ round and round
When she gets goin’, she really goes to town
We all join in with Emmy getting’ down
CHORUS
She’s a cool dood
Really cool dood (doncha know)
She’s a cool dood
So cool dood
Emily (X2)
Cool dood (X4)
CHORUS
She’s a cool dood
Really cool dood (oh yeah)
She’s a cool dood
So cool dood (that’s my Emily)
She’s a cool dood
Really cool dood (doncha know)
She’s a cool dood, so cool dood
