Story Behind the Song
I was driving to rehearsal in Vancouver in 1990, and the melody & lyrics came to me in the car. The guitar player came up with riff after riff, until he hit one that set the groove for this song. I did minor rewrites on it several times in the next few years, finally committing to multi-track cassette tape in 1994. In spite of the marginal recording quality, it's a fun piece to listen to, discounting the fact that the only "live" instruments are the vocals.
Lyrics
So long,
Time doesn't wait for you
So long, so long
Time goes on
VERSE 1
Life's too short to wait and see
Learn some truth, it'll set you free
Take the time to figure it out
See what life is all about
CHORUS
So long
Time doesn't wait for you
So long, so long
Time goes on
VERSE 2
Good things come to those who wait
Is bad advice, you'll only be late
Straight ahead is the way to go
There's only one life, or don't you know
CHORUS
BRIDGE
VERSE 3
Sum it up in ten words or less
It's hard to do, I must confess
What is life, anyway?
Make the most of every day
CHORUS
