Story Behind the Song
Concept: seeing a beautiful young woman on a
beach, seeing the whole world in her blue eyes;
fantasizing about love in a perfect world...
The opening song for concept album,
"My Favorite Stranger." The project started
in 1990 with this song; it took ten years to
finish recording the album (a long story...)
Lyrics
When Morning breaks out on the ocean
Shakes the waves, wakes up the beaches
Those noisy boys play along the water
Send the call every place it reaches
Did you see the girl with skin like peaches?
She looks young, but she could teach you a thing or two
Did you see her eyes? That color sure looks good on you
I think they call it Planet Blue...
Don't you want to go down on Planet Blue?
Nothing there is fake, every dream is true
Crimson lakes and watercolor birds of every hue
And everything looks new, on Planet Blue
And there's no question about what I'm after
Grab it all before it disappears
All this messin'about just courts disaster
I could be paying for this for years
Did you see her eyes? They were Planet Blue
Did you see the clouded skies? They're hurricanes on you
For eyes like these, there's nothing any mortal man won't do
To bring her close to you, on Planet Blue
Don't you want to go down on Planet Blue?
Nothing there is fake, every dream is true
Crimson lakes and watercolor birds of every hue
And everything looks new, on Planet Blue
Don't you want to go down on Planet Blue?
Down on Planet Blue / Down on Planet Blue...
