    Story Behind the Song
This song was written in 1990, originally as a tribure to 70s Tolkien-inspired Rush and Led Zeppelin type songs. One day the idea struck me to take the adventure story of the song and make the imaginings of a child playing in his suburban backyard. Finally recorded this in 2001 while on break from duties with BANTER.

    Lyrics
Waiting for the ice to melt under a blinding Sun
We crossed the frozen lake - the journey had begun
Noble was our mission. Tall on our horses we rode.
Knowing not if we'd return from the enemy's abode.

Our bodies growing weary, our minds filled with fright
Not to be consoled by the noises of the night
Unable to go further, we halted for a rest.
Just to get a wink of sleep before continuing our quest.

But our sleep was interrupted early
As the nightwatch woke us all
Somewhere in the distance we could hear the battlecall
An army was approaching - we prepared to meet our foes
Reaching in our quivers we began to load our bows

But just as I'm about to fire suddenly I hear
    Familiar voice which beckons me
    My target disappears
I stand alone in my backyard - reality's imposed
I turn around to face it
    Chainmail reduced to clothes
I tell my Mom I'll be right in
    Slingshot still in hand
But after dinner I'll be back
To bring justice to the land!
