    Story Behind the Song
Until yesterday (1-6-02) I always assumed this song was about a love that went sour. Wanting to escape it's spell. But this song is about a struggle with a different kind of love. The love and need for a substance and the need to defeat that "spell" to be able to move on in life. To be able to have success in life. But it is incredibly painstakingly difficult as described in the lyrics. Very hard. To be able to not use a substance - any substance - be it alcohol, prescribed medications, street drugs... is no less than amazing. Someone with many years of sobriety is someone that can bring us hope. Those are the people that prove it can be done - with work and honesty. Honesty and work. Now that I understand the meaning of the song is about that struggle, not the love struggle (though a song is always taken as needed to fit anyone's situation) it will remain near to my heart.

    It will be produced soon.

Luis writes from his heart. I have talked to him about many of his songs and they have all come from events, people, places in his life. The feelings were real which I believe makes a song. His approach is simple and straightforward and relateable.

    Lyrics
Had to cry me a river
    To get over you
and I died just a little
Cause my whole world was turning blue
We were standing in the cold cold rain
But the worst, I hope it's over now
    Cause there was a shadow

    Over me over you

So long since I've seen you smile
The way you used to do
    And after all this while
    I was feeling it too
We were standing in the cold cold rain
    And a change was overdue
    Cause there was a shadow

    Over me over you

So I guess I'll go my way
And I'll try to wish you well
Still wish that I could say
That I don't feel your spell
We were standing in the cold cold rain
I hope a change is gonna do us good
    Cause there was a shadow

    Over me over you

Had to cry me a river to get over you
And I died just a little
Cause my whole world was turning blue
Now I'm standing in the cold cold rain
But the worst, I hope it's over now
    Cause there was a shadow,

    Over me over you

Yeah there was a shadow, over me over you
