"Beautiful" is one of the first songs I ever wrote. I was dealing with a lot of pain and grief in my life at the time, and seeking solace in my faith and my sweet Lord through many questions tearing at me. He led me to the scriptures of Lamentations in which I discovered the story of a people who suffered greatly, and one narrator who unveiled a pulsing comfort in his cries to the Lord. This is power in faith.
