Story Behind the Song
Came to me in a burst over Thanksgiving weekend. It took a while to find the right arrangement, but I'm very happy with this one, and not least the fortuitous addition of the aforementioned accordian, which was able to be added when my roommate's old friend happened to bring it on a visit. Really, I don't know where the lyrics came from, and I'm worried that they're dumb, but nevertheless, I very much like them.
Possible rock arrangement on the way?
Lyrics
[Verse: C G F Am-G]
Time after time. Reason to rhyme.
Left all the old world's signs behind.
Mind over matter. Write the words after.
Talk about love, make it go little faster.
[Chorus 1: Em F G F-G]
But when I look at the things in my mind I find that love is far behind.
Let's sing our song to right all wrongs.
Kill with our fame and the notes we can't name.
I heard them before, on the radio, I'm sure.
Some hungover DJ giving us more
[Chorus 1]
[Stinger: C C G F]
So give me some hope. (yeah, yeah)
For the music I know (yeah, yeah)
Can save my life (yeah, yeah)
[NC]In the darkness of the night
So go to Delphi. I'd go myself, but
I gotta stay here tending to young ears.
The oracle will tell which melody will sell
in ruins and dark. But, O, I say hark:
[Chorus 2]
The herald angels outside my door!
Can you hear them? They say they want more!
[Stinger, yeahs preceding]
[quietly]
We've run out of time. I've run out of rhymes.
The words mean no more than what I saw in them before.
I'm waiting for a miracle. I'm waiting for a hero, still,
but maybe it's time to leave my bedroom…
[Stinger, no yeahs]
