Story Behind the Song
This is the first from-the-heart song I wrote, after some experiences with friends.
Lyrics
I took a trip into myself, to see what makes me run.
I knew I had a lot to learn, I thought it might be fun.
Along the way I met some people wondering, too
If what they wanted was real and true.
We listened, we debated, we fought and laughed
In the game, the mirror of us all.
We met our walls on a windy night - some whined, others stormed outside.
People wrestled within themselves, but me, I tried to hide.
I wouldn’t face my father, who was dead nine years;
Still had his raging power over me;
Then I realized that he was just as weak
And I knew I couldn’t blame him anymore.
I saw my future and found me strong and caring, with a lively mind.
Helping people help themselves and having fun besides.
A little boy of seven climbed up on my knee.
Funny, but the kid sure looked a lot like me.
He threw his arms around my neck and kissed me;
Looked me in the eye and said he loved me.
I felt so new and full inside, tears in a puddle, tears of joy
Hand in hand I took my little boy outside
And through his eyes I looked out on the world:
The sun on the water and the island hills - a brand-new way to reinvent myself.
Still, I’m not too sure about one thing: was it just a moment or will it come again?
I took a trip into myself, to see what makes me run.
I knew I had a lot to learn and I thought it might be fun.
Along the way I met my friends who wondered, too
If what we wanted was real and true.
We listened, we debated, we fought and laughed
In the game, the mirror of us all.
