Story Behind the Song
The work is based on the book "Harold and the Purple Crayon," by Crockett Johnson. It uses various mathematical ideas (all of which were explored by Crockett Johnson, an amateur mathematician) as a framework but follows the story chronologically, depicting the various adventures that Harold experiences.
