Also titled 'Hrvatsko Svitanje' in the Croatian language, this 14-minute free-form but highly intricate composition consists of several movements. This tune features a classic guitar lead voice, and acoustic piano solos triggered entirely via MIDI guitar. At times mellow and spacey, at other times intense and oddly-metered, 'Dawning' is an ambitious piece of guitar-based composition. | MP3.com CD: Midnight in Zagreb - buy it!

Story Behind the Song
Track 5 from 'Midnight in Zagreb'. Croatian title is 'Hrvatsko Svitanje'.
The foundation for 'The Dawning of Croatia' was written, in fact, in the late 70s. Jeff was working as a groundskeeper for a park out in the boonies of Indiana, and had lots of time to play guitar around the fire in the winter. Long snowy days lead to long, spacey guitar tunes....
Originally a ten-minute solo guitar piece called 'Sai Nada', when MIDI guitar became available, Jeff resurrected the piece for further exploration. At 14 minutes, it is Jeff's longest and most complex composition.
