Story Behind the Song
I recorded this a while ago. I had the theory that everyone has a song in them, so one Easter holiday I sat down and wrote it. :-) The keyboard and drum track was recorded via a microphone from a Casio keyboard. Then the other tracks (guitar, 'whistle') were added tape-to-tape karaoke style. Hi-tec, eh? By the time it had come to add the vocal, the track had speeded up and the pitch was somewhere between D and D#. So recently I mp3ed it and slowed it back down again.
Lyrics
Give thanks to the Lord for he is good,
His love endures for ever.
Let all who fear the Lord cry out,
His love endures for ever.
In my strife I cried to God
And by his grace he set me free.
And now His love will cut through fear -
What can man do to me?
When I'm pushed back and almost fall,
How my sinful nature craves.
But the Lord's my strength and He's my song,
And through His goodness I'm the one who's saved.
God opens his gates of righteousness,
And by his blood we may go in,
To give Him thanks and praise His name,
For Jesus' death has cancelled out my sin.
The stone once rejected is my king.
It was for me that this was done,
And now I welcome each new day,
And rejoice with gladness in His Son.
