Story Behind the Song
A desire to explore the darker subtracts of paranoid real estate. Supressed passions and fear. Fun stuff like that.
I wrote it in the car, on the way to the park one day; the actual songwriting was done before I even had a guitar in hand-- I did the work in my head, in a few minutes. As far as the technical aspects, the recording, that was done over a total of just a few hours.
Lyrics
She asks me out for the evening
but I don't want to go...
she says: "you'll never know what you're missing"
but I already know
and every day seems like a cheap magazine,
the american cultural hierarchies;
people have fingers, and people have eyes,
but if somebody touches me, somebody dies
Chorus:
I've been to the Cinema, and I know what goes on;
it's girls kissing boys, boys kissing girls, boys with the boys, girls with the girls;
i don't want to know... and I don't want to show...
and i don't want to go.
I don't want to be your boyfriend,
i just want to give you head.
I don't want to take my medicine,
I just want to die in bed.
And maybe this task is just too much to ask,
whereupon someday, then all this shall pass;
maybe I can't fight a world of lies,
but if somebody touches me, I'm going to die
