	Story Behind the Song Originally written as an entry in a local music contest on a rock station in Omaha, Nebraska, This Dream was my attempt to capture in song what going for a dream "looks" like. The three analogies came to me while at work one morning and the lyrics fell together in about an hour. I came back later and composed the music to fit with where the lyrics were going. We recorded the song the night before the contest deadline, finishing the last vocals and mixdown at about 3 in the morning. Lyrics This Dream A dream is glistening on the waves Like the rising sun Calling to me, beckoning For me to come It's time to raise anchor The journey's just begun I'll sail until I reach the place Where my dream and I are one A dream is living in my mind A seedling in the ground I'll water it and watch it grow Spreading beauty all around I will tend it daily Til its fruit abounds And care for it until at last In its shade I'm found A dream is stirring in my heart Like a song unsung It needs a voice to sing it Until it's finally sung Someday I will sing it Up there on the stage And someday I will finally see This dream come of age
