This slow moving ambiant work is in three sections. The first part can be seen as the sunrise on the first day of spring, the second the dance of the seasons, and the third the power of the universe. Thus it is the Rite of Spring as it were. |

Story Behind the Song
This song was first written for the Minnesota State University - Mankato Dance Ensemble. It was the first time that I worked on a piece of music with another artist. This was the version that I had written, but when I handed in to the ensemble, they had me change it to fit the dance they wanted to perform. I was always very happy with the original version and still to this day I only perform the work in this, its original state.
The work itself was written during the ethnic cleansing of Bosnia in the very early 1990's. At the time I was also working on my music degree and taking music history classes. In these classes I learned that the composer Bartok had been killed during a very similar ethnic cleansing. I hope that these crimes against humanity will someday be outlawed throughout the planet and those who commit such crimes are punished as murderers.
