An orchestral impression of ancient Pompeii and it's rise from the ashes in the present. |
Credits: Composed by Don Friedman |
Story Behind the Song
The piece was written after a visit to Pompeii. The ruins were magnificent and left me with the thought of how the people parished when the volcano erupted and the current "resurrection" of the ruins as if the city was re-born. The ruins gave me a sense of the everyday life of the city. The Piece is scored for strings(violins, cellos and contra bass)french horns, trumpet, oboe, flute, bassoon, piano timpanies and percussion.
