Story Behind the Song
This is the first music written for a family opera which was begun first staged in 1990. It is based on the story of Little Red Riding Hood (but with a much happier ending).
The voices of Red Riding Hood and her Mom are by Clare Agro. Red Riding's Dad and the Woodcarver's voices are those of Phil DelVecchio. The other two voices in the story are by me.
This production is available for public use and as a limited edition first run CD. Please e-mail us for permission and details, including a brief subject description.
The instruments are played by myself. (It would be great to hear it with an orchestra!)
We are presently remixing the original soundtrack for a special MP3 mix. Watch for future installments! The entire popera is just under an hour in length.

Lyrics
(Riding Hood ): Hello, my name is Riding Hood. / They call me Little Red Riding Hood. / There's a war on / And they say the beast is living in the forest. / Hear the howl / As the scoundrel cries his voice into the night! / But don't be afraid of all to come. / Just trust my friends and I are one. / The following is a tale of adventure, wonder! / There are also scary parts. / Scary parts! / But I've got friends. / The following tells of courage and honour, danger! / Sometimes dark and eerie parts / And teary parts, / But we've got friends! / Hello, my name is Riding Hood. / They call me Little Red Riding Hood.
(Great Day's Afternoon: Father) - It's such a great day's afternoon. / I worked all morning, now it's
time to snooze. / The cows are happy eating all the corn. / The hens are happy 'cause their chicks are born, / Happy 'cause their chicks are born! // It's such a great day's afternoon. / The cocoa's cooking and I'll have some soon. / And maybe a piece of that apple strudel, / The one Mamma baked with the candy noodles,/ The one with the candy noodles!
(Dust it Away: Mother) - Everywhere! Can't you see it there: Right before your eyes! / Who could think anything this small could turn out this size? / Everywhere: dust! / On the shelves, on the table, on the stairs. / I seem able, but it puts me to the test. / Everywhere: dust! / On the fridge, on the lamps on the stove, / In the basement are the spots it loves the best. // I say dust it away! / Oh yes, dust it away! / I say dust it away, dust it away, dust it away. / I say dust it away! / Oh yes, dust it away! / I say dust it away, dust it away, dust it away! / Away, away!
