A tribute to the heroism displayed by the New York Fire Department after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center.

    Story Behind the Song
This song was written to commemorate the heroism displayed by the New York City Fire Fighters that saddly lost their lives in the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center.

Chris was so stricken by the images of the events, as they were unfolding, that his feelings escaped out in on paper in mere moments.

During a recording session, Chris had played the song for David B. David picked up his guitar and quickly rapped out the lead guitar and it was decided to track it as a demo meant as a frame work for a more complex song.

After tracking and mixing down the demo, Chris and David looked at each other and decided to let the song stand on its own as it was. This version is what was the result.

    Lyrics
So they shall not be forgotten
At least in this old heart of mine
    I sing of America's finest
    The heros of FDNY

On a clear morning September Eleventh
    Passed quarter to nine
The day two terrorist planes hit
New York's two tallest high rises.

Who will help me to get outside
People are up here burning alive
So much smoke in my eyes
    Engine 155 has arrived

Hurry lad tie the hydrant supply
In the back stairs and climb into the sky
To rescue the twins nearly 40 thou strong
Its what you do its where you belong
Being called out to Manhattan's lower west side
Number 2 has collapsed and there is brothers inside

    Snow, No
    Somehow you have survived
    Falling down, Falling down
    Injustice left in paper debris
God bless America United we stand
As the firemen search through the rubble
    With their hands
    Digging with their bear hands

So they shall not be forgotten
At least in this old heart of mine
    I sing of America's finest
    The heros of FDNY
