    Story Behind the Song
This song was recorded in a single take with out any over dubbing.

    Lyrics
    I know the reason
    the cajun woman crys
    Too busy feeling
    like she wants to die
She wanted to love her man
But the Lord took him away
No matter how much she crys
    It still remains that way
    I know the reason
    The cajun woman crys

    He was a sailor
a fisher on the Orlean's bay
    Workin his hands
    he'd sweat on a winter's day
    Then he'd dock his boat
and rush to her open arms
    Together they'd breath a one
and the cherish it did grow strong
    I know the reason
    The cajun women crys

Well he set out one day
the sea wasn't gental or kind
    A hurricane crept on in
it took us all by surprise
    His ship was tossed about
like a dollar on the open ground
But I know she felt a kiss
    as his ship went down
    I know the reason
    the cajun women crys

Now I don't know the reason
    I can not tell why
Was it the roll of angel's dice
    or maybe the devil's hand
But he was a good man
that was all the preist could say
A tear roll down my eye
as I walked by an empty grave
    I know the reason
    the cajun women crys

    Now you can find her
down by the docks of the bay
Though many sailors pass her by
never a harsh word she does say
She is selling red beans and rice
for a quarter trying to make a stand
Sometimes when I turn real quick
I can see an angel holding her hand
    Vou-ez, vou-lez, vou-lez vous
red beans and rice I have for you
    Vou-ez, vou-lez, vou-lez vous
bread and wine Christ has for you
