    Lyrics
    THE GOLDEN CALF

Tommy was always kind of special.
Ever since he was a kid he stood up for the weak.
He would go marching for the right cause
and never was he feigning to be meek.

Never afraid to form a union,
fighting back at any boss who exploited his staff.
Going on strike was like a kids’ game
of crushing those who hail the golden calf.

He was given the nickname commie,
‘cause he was leaning to the left.
Colleagues and mates would laugh at Tommy
when ever he proclaimed that property is theft.

Every week he bought a ticket
to a lottery on line for the sake of suspense.
Then a fine day he won the big prize
and Tommy got some thoughts that were intense.

Thinking and thinking made him certain.
He would move to Easy Street to improve his esteem.
Bought a new car and threw his old clothes
and later he invested in some scheme.

He was given the nickname commie,
‘cause he was leaning to the left.
Colleagues and mates would laugh at Tommy
when ever he proclaimed that property is theft.

    Tommy’s priorities were changing.
There were many classy folks he just had to befriend.
Now that his old job was history
his old friends slipped away, they couldn’t blend.

After a while he started gambling.
That was nothing new to him, he had done that before.
But it was very different this time.
He could lose it all or he could score.

He was given the nickname commie,
‘cause he was leaning to the left.
Colleagues and mates would laugh at Tommy
when ever he proclaimed that property is theft.
