Story Behind the Song
This began as a morning meditation, like "Stretching My Wings." You can even hear the birds outside my window, the fall breezes rustling the dry branches. In the past, I've worked with ways of combining different flute parts, but I've never been happy with the results. I don't know why I didn't think to just play a part, and then play a variation over it, but that seemed the natural thing to do. I had my studio window open (bad, I know.) I was recording the ambient birdsong as well as the flutes, you see. And then it just happened, and the sudden realization was like the wind stretching her fingers through the scarlet leaves of a maple tree.
