Story Behind the Song
Written in one of my darker moods, but not as a direct result of any experience. normally played as just acoustic/vocal in the live setting, the recording took a while to get right, particularly the right drum track, but a hell of a lot of fun to put together
Lyrics
I will walk by the moon tonight to the cliffs at Smuggler’s Bay, and there I will jump off, having made my peace with God, for my love she is gone I will not stay here on my own... She was lovelier than life with her long hair falling down, and her skin as smooth as silk, her eyes as bright as precious stones, and I made her my wife, she was my only true love...I stand here with my hands covered in her blood so red, for I found her in my bed lying with another man, and my knife was in my hands, a crimson fog did fill my head... And I loved her, I adored her, would die for her, but in my anger I took her life away... So I will walk by the moon tonight to the cliffs at Smuggler’s Bay, for my crime it has a price and it weighs heavy on my soul, and I have no wish to live, not to live without my love, my only true love...
