Story Behind the Song
For the heroes of Sept 11 2001.
THERE STILL ARE HEROES‚ was written in
the firm belief that there will always be a select
few people who will step up to be counted. On
September 11, 2001 we learned of hundreds of these
people in the form of the New York City Fire
Department, the NYPD and Port Authority Police.
This song is dedicated to their memory, and to the
courage of thousands of other people whose stories
we‚ll never know.
Sandy Lemm of Toronto was moved to write the lyrics shortly after witnessing
the horrors of Sept. 11 in New York. Frank Kitching etched the original melody
and was flexible enought to allow Marco Girgenti the freedom of rewriting as much of the melody as he saw fit. The trio was capped off by multi award winner producer/engineer Jim Morgan.
Although we are all industry professionals, none of us felt right taking money for our efforts in putting this piece together, we all gave our time freely and willingly. We hope it will bring some comfort to our American friends. Yes, it was a horrific tragedy..BUT..There Still Are Heroes.
Arranged and co-written by Marco Girgenti in Toronto, Canada.

Lyrics
THERE STILL ARE HEROES
Sometimes I try to do things better
I try to do the best I can;
Some days that doesn‚t matter
I‚m just trying to understand
That everything‚s gone crazy
When I stop to think it through
I‚m humbled by the things I saw
Thank God I always knew...
(CHORUS)
There still are heroes
Who give and never, ever take
There still are heroes
It‚s a thing no one can fake
There still are heroes
In your heart you know it‚s true
There still are heroes
They lay down their lives for you
I can‚t believe what happened
I never thought it could
If only I‚d been dreaming
Oh wouldn‚t that be good;
But the innocence is over
Thinking otherwise is wrong
The one good thing to come of it
They‚re always standing strong
(CHORUS)
Running towards the problem
While others run away
Put fear on hold, charge straight ahead
That‚s the only way;
There is no school to learn it
It‚s molded in their heart
To give everything they‚ll ever have
That‚s how they play their part
(DOUBLE CHORUS))
