Story Behind the Song
We came up with the tune in about 5 minutes and set it to these lyrics. Everything was done on the first take.
Lyrics
He's walking home from you,
through the late Saturday afternoon,
and when he catches the number seventeen,
he thinks off the places that you'd been
and drinks to forget.
And somehow, anyhow,
he reasons it all through his fading mind.
And through the night, all the time,
he whispers the words of his fading mind.
He saw you at work the other day,
and spoke words he thought right to say,
Said you just laughed in your own little way,
he felt ashamed, unnamed and walked away,
and drinks to forget
And somehow, anyhow,
he reasons it all through his fading mind,
that he has the reasons, he has the answers
to everything, anything that has happened,
happened anywhere at anytime
and he whispers the words of his fading mind.
