Story Behind the Song
"I have reviewed several songs by this artist and I dont think that I have ever given such high ratings to so many songs before. But the fact is that they are well deserved because the music is amazing. Simply wonderful religious ballads and they really get to your heart. . .everytime."
Fredrik Cole: Reviewer for Trax In Space
Vanessas vocals soar in praise and adulation of God as she sings this dramatic praise song. We are not alone in our praise of God. The book of Revelation tells us that we are joined by the exaltation of beings throughout heaven who are constantly before the throne of God. This exhilarating song encourages worshippers to praise God with enthusiasm while joining this heavenly chorus.
This song came to me while I was the music minister at Calvary Chapel Bakersfield in the early 80s. In oursong service we had always emphasized praising God. However, everything that I knew about worship mainly came from osmosis. I began to realize that I was a novice leading other novices. Overcome with conviction at the realization regarding my responsibility over a large congregation, I began to pursue the study of worship. This pursuit of understanding resulted in years of persistent research that carried on through the 90s. The results of this study has been published on the Internet on the Wigtune Company Home Page @ http://userzweb.lightspeed.net/wigton/wigtune.htm.
The praise song, Before His Royal Throne, was another fruit of this intense study. As I searched out the Scriptures, I was impressed with the fact that eternity is filled with the praises of God. Isaiahs vision (Is 6) pictures the angels crying out Holy, Holy, Holy without end before the throne of God. Revelation affirms this and adds many other instances of heavenly worship.
As I immersed myself in these scriptures, I realized that, as we sing to God, we are joining a heavenly chorus of praise that rings throughout eternity. What an exhilarating thought that is! It certainly provides us with a great reason to exalt our Holy and Righteous God!
It was with excitement that I wrote the song that I believed had come out of a great spiritual revelation. The words were a little more complex than the congregation was use to singing, so I was not sure how it would be accepted. However, by the second time we sang the chorus the church erupted in ecstatic praise. Before His Royal Throne instantly became a part of the Calvary Chapel repertoire.
The musical I was composing at the time concerned itself with the Book of Revelation. This song naturally fit into that theme and became one of the concluding pieces. Yet there never was an opportunity to teach the musical to the Calvary Chapel Praise Singers, who I directed. Nonetheless Before His Royal Throne became a part of the groups praise repertoire. Later, our group Selah, performed most of the Revelation musical and the song played a predominant role in our presentation.
We recorded the song in the early 90s as part of a project to put the Revelation Set (as we called it) on tape. However, a computer problem left the vocal tracs lost forever. I was heartbroken! This song, in my opinion, was the most powerful praise song that I had ever written. I desperately wanted to get it on tape, but continued equipment problems constantly stood in the way. This frustration lead to the abandonment of recording for quite awhile.
I later found out that God had His reasons for creating the loss. In my continued studies on worship I discovered that some of the words that I had penned were not exactly cripturally correct. So I took the song back to the drawing board and carefully edited it.
Finally, in 1999 we went back to the studio to have Vanessa sing it. The results were so astounding that the pain of losing the earlier vocals was replaced with joy. As you listen to this long-awaited mix, we pray that you will be blessed while praising God with the realization that all heaven joins in the chorus.
Lyrics
Worship Him
Come and magnify our God, worship Him alone,
For weve beheld His wondrous grace
To know His glory, and He is glorious.
Bow before the Lord of hosts, He is the Strong and Mighty One,
And one day we shall see His face
To know His glory, for He is glorious.
Worship Him, fall down on our knees and exalt Him, He is Lord,
He is worthy! We join the voice of angels before His throne,
Before His royal throne.
Come and lift His name up high with our loyal hands,
For weve beheld His wondrous grace
To know His glory, and He is glorious.
Bring our praise unto the Lord, give Him the honor that is due,
To know His glory, for He is glorious.
Worship Him, fall down on our knees and exalt Him, He is Lord,
He is worthy! We join the voice of angels before His throne,
Before His royal throne.
Lift our voices to our God who dwells inside our hearts,
For weve beheld His wondrous grace
To know His glory, and He is glorious.
Living praise proclaims His name so we shall worship with our lives,
And one day we shall see His face
To know His glory, for He is glorious.
Worship Him, fall down on our knees and exalt Him, He is Lord,
He has redeemed us! We join the voice of angels before His throne,
Worship Him, fall down on our knees and exalt Him, He is Lord,
He is worthy! We join the voice of angels before His throne,
Before His royal throne.
Worship Him, fall down on our knees and exalt Him, He is Lord,
He is worthy! We join the voice of angels before His throne,
Before His royal throne.
Before His royal throne.
