Story Behind the Song
This song was a true collaboration. Every one of us contributed to the parts that make it uniquely what it is. We had been practicing in the basement of Ron's house in North Kansas City. We just started jamming and out it came. We all came back the next week with some ideas about arrangements and words.
Lyrics
Getting out on my own.
Trying to find my home.
Life just ain't the same without that girl.
I told her all of my dreams.
And she said she believed.
But she had dreams of her own, it was a different world.
I hung my heart out on the line.
Something I should never do.
She gave me love and peace of mind.
Baby I believed in you.
She said, if you want to believe, believe in me.
If you want to see, see through me.
Life is all that you make it, so make it all you can.
And, if you want to believe, take my hand.
We're really kind of the same.
It's all part of the game.
Living, loving, hoping to be made new.
You can't depend on a dream.
Life's not what it seems.
And no one's going to do it all for you.
And if you want the answer,
It might not be so clear.
Just open up and listen.
It'll whisper in your ear.
And it'll say, if you want to believe, believe in me.
If you want to see, see through me.
Life is all that we make it, so make it all you can.
And, if you want to believe, take my hand.
