This is just one song from the full length album, "when i was young" now available. Other song samples will be available soon. Morning papers is a very clean, polished sound. A driving song with a catchy chorus, this song is gaining popularity in the San Diego music scene. Jeff's guitar sets the tone, Dana's bass puts the groove in, Carly's sweet voice massages the eardrums while Gregory's tight rhythms orchestrate the whole shebang. |

Story Behind the Song
I wrote several pages of about how I thought Prince's symbol should have a sound to it: The sound of a kiss. Within these pages were two that ended up being the words that Carly chose to sing her awesome melodies to. It was Jeff, however, that started it all with a great guitar riff. Dana and I added some rhythmic bottom and that's basically it. Don't forget about the world party! Let's face it, I love Prince!
All of our songs are written in a converted two car garage in Chula Vista, CA. The song was put together in one day, but the raw materials were brewing for long before that. It took about two weeks to record the song with the help of Wayne Duncan who produced and engineered the recording. We all got our parts on the first take, well, maybe second!
Lyrics
Don’t have time for the morning papers,
Still gotta run
Wish I was having fun.
Read the papers, but only when it’s too late
The day is done.
Only to find out people can’t still see with 20/20 vision
I thought they added color to the news
So why do people only see
The black and white?
Chorus:
I’ll tell you why
Brain blocked, everyday clocked, dreams stopped, weak minded people
I’ll tell you why
It gives me the creeps, y’all
Knows he shows he glows and doesn’t ever stop
‘Cause he’s at the top
And don’t say what he’s sayin’ is a flop
Stop at the max –never
Gotta pay the tax, and pull these racks out onto the street
In the street we’ll have a world party
Where we’ll slide our bodies to the shape of the sign
The sign of which is the sound of the sign, according to me
Chorus
Do you think there is meaning to your name?
If you do advance to the next square, and bear with me
There is a meaning to everything in life
There is a meaning to everything in life
I cannot tell you what it is for you
Only for me, only for me
Chorus
Repeat verse 1
Chorus x2
