Story Behind the Song
I wrote this song after Jenny left for Minnesota last year. It's the first song I've ever recorded and I'd appreciate your feedback. If you can't tell, the train whistle belongs to an Alaskan freighter.
Lyrics
Yonder she comes o'er the mountains.
Yonder she comes o'er the snow.
Yonder she comes through the valleys.
Pretty darlin', don't you leave me no more.
My baby took the train to Minnesota.
My baby took the train to St. Paul.
My baby took the train in the springtime
And it won't bring her back until the fall.
Yonder I hear the whistle blowin'.
Yonder comes the train 'round the bend.
Yonder I hear the rails a-callin'.
Sing me back my baby once again.
Falling out of love is not a threat, dear.
Infidelity is no concern.
We are so in love and it's so serious,
I'll play my love a tune 'till she returns.
If she doesn't answer all my letters,
And if she doesn't hold me when I cry,
If she doesn't tell me that she loves me so,
I'll still love my baby 'till I die.
Yonder she comes o'er the mountains.
Yonder she comes o'er the snow.
Yonder she comes through the valleys.
Pretty darlin', don't you leave me no more.
