Story Behind the Song
Took one day to record, well 24 hours. Wrote and played it in the evening of 4 Oct 01. Woke up the next morning and sang with my morning voice. It was the only way I could get that low.
Lyrics
way back in '91 when i was still divine
i chanced upon this cat who's life was just like mine
i looked at him, he looked at me, man as if to say
"this here game is mine, little man, it's best you walk away"
a dollar here, a hundred there, they threw it at his feet
the cards they fell so easily, seemed he couldn't be beat
thought that i could do this too, get some money in a flash
he said, "forget it, dude, you're gonna lose your cash"
**
i said, listen bitch, i ain't no fool
he said, "whatever man, whatever you want, that's cool
take what you need from me, it's not as easy as it seems"
i said, shut up, ken, & mr. dealer man, just deal
hit me again, dealer man
crazy red with messed up head says he got it made
"no way, that's impossible" but he won every hand he played
yeah he knows what's coming up, i can see it in his face
when the dealer lays upon his ten another fucking ace
a dollar here, a hundred there, tell me where did it go
i busted every single time, left me flat out broke
"little man, i told you then, that you shouldn't play
me, i'm just a lucky man, but blackjack ain't your game"
busted, busted, busted, ah not again
