    Story Behind the Song
I was livin' up in Yuba City, California, chasin' after a no good woman who done me real wrong in the end. We was stopped at a roadside stand, lookin' at some organic grits, when a buncha young fellers passed us by in an old Ford Galaxie, all hootin' and hollerin' about the size and shape of Cheryl's breasts in that tube top. Suddenly, a song just come over me.

    Lyrics
    HILLBILLY THRILLSEEKIN’ KIDS

Hillbilly thrillseekin’ kids burnin’ rubber down the wrong side of Highway 10
Headin’ for the county line with a mind they can get out of whatever they get in
Livin’ on a dare ‘cause they really don’t care
And there’s nothin’ that they can’t do
Hillbilly thrillseekin’ kids sound a little like somebody you once knew

    Bet you run across ‘em
    Trying to act so hard
In some wracked up, jacked up, rusty ol’ somethin’
That’s a few days late for the wreckin’ yard
But it still rumbles ‘em into town
And it seats ten with the windows down
Listen real hard and you’ll recognize the sound…

Hillbilly thrillseekin’ kids burnin’ rubber down the wrong side of Highway 10
Headin’ for the county line with a mind they can get out of whatever they get in
Livin’ so fast ‘cause the night don’t last
When you gotta sneak home by two
Hillbilly thrillseekin’ kids sound a little like somebody you once knew

    Don’t try to lie now
    You remember well
You were skinny as a splinter, hangin’ out the window
Like a hellbnt devil with a rebel yell
And all those hoodlum friends of yours
With a case of acne and a case of Coors
And an itch in the britches a ragin’ good time cures

    ***

    And with a little luck
    They’re gonna turn out fine
    Have a little fun
    Then tow the line
They’re gonna grow right past that rowdy stage
    Set aside them wilder ways
And wake up from that crazy haze
With the braincells left to remember those days of—

Hillbilly thrillseekin’ kids burnin’ rubber down the wrong side of Highway 10
Headin’ for the county line with a mind they can get out of whatever they get in
Livin’ on a dare ‘cause they really don’t care
And there’s nothin’ that they can’t do
Hillbilly thrillseekin’ kids sound a little like somebody you once knew
