Story Behind the Song
Inspired by an aquaintance named Tiffany, I
wrote this song in 1995 as a way of trying
to help her feel better. You see, she had
lost her father shortly before I met her. I
felt SO bad, that I wrote this song for her.
Originally titled "Sometimes You Win,
Sometimes You Lose (A Loved One)" This song
can also be referred to as "Song for Tiffany".
Lyrics
Sometimes You Win and Sometimes You Lose (A Loved One)
VERSE 1
There are people in your life,
And there are those you never meet,
There are people out in the street,
Who mean nothing to me.
Sometimes there's a person,
That you've known forever,
A brother, a father your sister,
Or maybe your mother.
And you've got this special connection,
With these people that I'm talkin' about
It can't be read in the papers,
And it don't have to be spoken about...
CHORUS
You gotta remember that life is funny,
It can be just the way you chose,
But, sometimes you win,
And sometimes you lose,
A loved one...
VERSE 2
No, no it's not fair,
To find yourself with this emptiness,
When there's nothing that you could do,
To help this person live through.
Try, try to think about all the good times,
That you had when you were together,
It couldn't have been perfect,
So, don't you worry.
If you yelled at them, or hit 'em,
There's nothing that you can do now,
It's all in the past,
Just live on, and let their memory last!
CHORUS
You gotta remember that life is funny,
It can be just the way you chose,
But, sometimes you win,
And sometimes you lose,
A loved one...
